Weekend at Granny & Grampas

This past weekend we took the ferry over to Mike's parents house in Lake Cowichan. Mom just retired and it was an open house that weekend..

Unfortunately Ben got sick a day or so before and we had to go to the doctors on Friday. He seems to be a lot better, though.

Here are pics of the gaffer over the weekend (we forgot our camera so these were taken by Grampa). Ben playing with his new favourite thing — Fisher Price Little People, playing with Debbie and Andrew's kids Maisie and Ambrose, and eating a mini-cheesecake dessert (look at that face!).

Thanks Debs for coming all that way for a visit!! Loved seeing your family :D

It's been a busy week!

Milestones in Ben's life:

A few days ago Ben started to say "mum" and he hasn't stopped! Mike is "Mum". The dogs are "Mum". His milk is "Mum". Papa is "Mum". Cats are "Mum". His sucky is "Mum". It's quite funny.. everything at home is "Mum", but at daycare he doesn't really say it. He knows who his momma is!! Mike picked him up from daycare today, and when they came home Ben was saying "Mum Mum Mum Mum!" when the walked in the door, as if calling for me. Mike held him around the corner of the office door and he said it and looked for me and then gave me the biggest smile (as he reached for me of course!!). Heartwarming, I tell ya!

He said "Hi" after repeating it many times. Hasn't said it since, but Mike's mom and I heard it!

He is still trying to walk, and getting more and more steady. Translation: He is a dare devil!! The guy has so many bruises on his legs.

Imitating. So funny! Having Mike's parents here this weekend was fun. Grampa sat at the other side of the table from Ben, so Ben would always look at him and smile. Well, Grampa looked at him a few times over top of his glasses, and then we would catch Ben looking at Grampa the same way as if he were wearing them. It was very comical.

Tonight he was eating pears in one of those food-net-feeder-things and he was managing to shove the WHOLE net in his mouth. Well, I couldn't help but laugh at him while doing this, then he thought it was funny and let out a couple giggles. Then he did it again (because he knew it made his Mum laugh :D By the time I thought of getting the camera, it was too late.

15 days until his 1st birthday!! This time last year I was so excited, waiting for my wee baby to arrive.

Week 2!

A better week in some cases.. Ben has been enjoying himself at Daycare — napping like a good little boy and having fun! His true colours are also shining through — those CRAZY monkey arms that have to knock everything off of shelves, counters, etc. if you walk by with him in your arms, trying to get into EVERYTHING, and just being a pain in the butt sometimes! Rebecca (daycare lady) thinks it is funny, thank heavens, and quite entertaining. The other little boy who is 6 months older than him is the complete opposite.. quiet, mild mannered. Not Ben! I guess that means he is warming up to it there and it feels like home!?!

Rebecca's youngest boy has a mild case of chicken pox right now, so there is a good chance that Ben will get it, too. He doesn't get his vaccine for that until he is 1. Soon! She says that it is easier for them to get it over with when they are younger. We'll see!

On another note, My Girl Friday Design Co. is officially open for business! And I can cash cheques, too!! Yes, I went and got my business license and opened my very first business account. Pretty exciting :D

We are off to a wedding tomorrow morning at Minter Gardens (Chilliwack) for Mike's cousin. Never been there so that should be neat.. got Ben a new toy to play with so hopefully that will keep him occupied enough through the ceremony! Mike's parents are also coming over today for the weekend (to come to the wedding as well). It's always fun when they are here! Mom just had a big milestone in her life — Sept 11th marked her last day of work! Yes, she is retired! Now the REAL fun begins :D We are all very happy for you, Mom!!

My little man is awake now and "talking" in his crib. I like listening to him in the mornings.. making all these funny noises (not crying) and trying to talk. The difference in sounds he makes is crazy.. especially since he started daycare. Oh, and he is also saying Ma Ma Ma Ma Ma a lot. Well, sometimes it comes out as Muh Muh Muh but at least he is trying!!!

Pictures soon!

First day...

... of daycare for Ben and official start of work day for Cynthia!!

Yes, yesterday was a big day! My office is nearly done (just organizing and decorating left to do) and it feels so great to have a space to work away from the bedroom!! Made yesterday a bit easier to handle. Felt more like Christmas, actually!

Ben, on the other hand, I don't think he felt like it was Christmas. He was a little out of sorts at Rebecca's, but he did pretty good. No naps, but she said that is to be expected. Usually takes a couple weeks to get onto a comfortable routine. He was pretty pooped when we went to get him (we walked there together to surprise him!). He crawled over to Mike, and once in his arms he leaned over and gave me a big wet slobbery/snotty (teething!) kiss! Was too adorable not to graciously accept!

Today is another day.. he has lots of little friends there, though. Aiden is 1.5, Abbie is 2, Maggie is 3, Cane is 3 and Rockwell is 6. He goes to school, but he gets to see him for a bit when he gets home. I am sure happy with Rebecca, though. She is really sweet, and the kids love her. I go there and I don't hear whining or crying the whole time. Makes me feel a TON better about taking him to daycare!!

Pictures soon!
